Instructional Routines
1) Beginning of class procedures-
a. Once students enter the room they are no longer allowed to exit until class is over.
This is important because it will minimize the traffic and congestion that is typically seen at the door before the bell rings.
b. Students are to immediately put away all of their belongings and get out paper and pencil.
This is also important because it prepares the students for immediate instruction.
c. Students are to reference their assigned numbered question on the white board and answer them accordingly.
These questions will get progressively more challenging as the year progresses. This cognitive challenge stems from Bloom’s Taxonomy from the simple recall through the more complex and abstract mental levels, to the highest order which is classified as evaluation.
This activity also allows me to take roll quietly at the beginning of each class.
2) End of class procedures.
a. Five minutes before the dismissal bell we will either clean up from labs or review the day’s current topic.
b. This will allow us to leave the room clean and orderly for the next class and leave with a fresh review.
